ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Walter L. Sturghill Jr.
Look behind me and see whatÕs going on. Look
behind me and find out how it feels to be far away from home. Look
behind me and see what others take for granted. Here in America,
we seldom think about the comfort we receive from loved ones, and
the little wealth that weÕre blessed with, and the life that we
live. Look behind me and see the troubled man walking on the beach.
I wonder if I would have talked to him just a little bit more, could
he have been reached.
This was the first time a lot of us were this
far away from home, even I felt a little anxiety taking toll. Look
behind me and see the helping hands of Fijians from villages nearby.
Look behind me because no matter where you live on earth, you still
need money to survive, and be grateful for what you have. Look behind
me at the coconut trees, I have come to appreciate life from my
experience overseas.
