A road block was also set up at Nabuakavesi on the Queens Highway.
ASP Romanu Tikotikoca says it was set up at around 10 this morning and was
partially lifted at noon.
" Access at this point in time is only through one lane. That is from
Suva to Navua and Navua to Suva."
ASP Tikotikoca explains why the Namosi villagers erected the road block in
the first place.
" Upon discussions with them, they said they are only acting on instructing
and they are the ones that implemented it."
Its understood the orders are coming from within the Parliamentary complex.
ASP Tikotikoca had this advice for travellers to and from the west via the
Queens highway.
" There's no problem at the road block site. However we maybe worried
because we have heard what is going on. Everything is peaceful at the
road block site. I just came through Nabukavesi came toward Lami. At Wailekutu,
there are a number of people gathering there at the road block
and they are sitting around drinking grog and they lift the road blocks when
they get word from Parliament."
Meanwhile when the military was asked about why they have not cut communication
links between those in Veiuto and their supporters outside .
This is what Major Howard Politini had to say .
" How much of the army's action will it provoke. If its going to provoke
more instability around the country than of course we need to exercise
alot professional discretion in what we do in this situation because it very
much a political situation we are in. We are the military and we need to
manage that interface of the two situation very carefully. We are here for the
general public and we need to be aware that our actions can cause
counteractions and the general public will be the victims of this."
