Roadblock outside Suva
Saturday, July 08, 2000

Tui Suva, Ratu Epeli Kanakana is talking to villagers to remove a
roadblock they erected outside Suva this morning.

About 50 villagers erected the roadblock on Queen's Highway about
6km outside Suva. The Queen's Highway is the main road linking
the central and western division.

Latest report is that the villagers have opened half the road to allow
vehicles to pass. However, they have threatened to close it again if
their demands, which are not known yet, are not met.
