TOP FIJI TOURIST HOTEL CLOSES DUE TO LACK OF GUESTS

SUVA, Fiji Islands (June 13, 2000 ‹ Radio Australia)---One of Fiji's top
tourist hotels -- the Sheraton Royal -- is closing its doors because of a
lack of guests.

Management of the resort at Denarau Island, near Nadi on Fiji's west coast,
says the recent political upheaval in Fiji has caused it to close the hotel
for at least a month.

Guests who were booked into the resort will be transferred to the hotel
chain's two other properties in Fiji.

The hotel management says the occupancy rate at its hotels has plummeted to
between 20 and 25 percent.
