As evening approaches in Suva, there is tension in the city.
A 48 hour curfew has been declared nationwide . This means the country is effectively
closed for the next two days. During this time the military will control the
situation in the city.
The extended curfew came after a violent night on the streets of Suva which
saw a policeman killed and a lawless mob destroy equipment in the Fiji One television
station.
The situation at parliament remains unchanged, with negotiations continuing
on-and-off as the former Prime Minister and his government remain hostages.
The international press and all other reporters left the Veiuto complex earlier
in the day.
This reminder, a 48 hour curfew began this evening at 6:00 PM. the military
