About the Flint North Central COPC

HUD’s Office of University Partnerships awards grants to colleges and universities to help them establish outreach centers that tackle urban issues within the surrounding community. Mott Community College was awarded nearly $400,000 to create a Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) in the North Central neighborhood (hyperlink to map of COPC area_2.doc) of Flint. The Center will unite both college and community resources to revitalize the community and specifically address local issues related to at least one of the following focus areas:

Crime Prevention
Housing
Beautification
Job Training

This program is only possible through the cooperation and collaboration between college faculty and community leaders and organizations. For this reason, a Community Advisory Committee (CAC) was created from a representative group of community members, including individuals from partner organizations, block clubs, and faith-based organizations.
Community partners have committed valuable knowledge and experience, human capital, and in-kind donations to ensure the success of COPC. These partners include:

Michigan Works! / Career Alliance
• Contractors Assistance Program (CAP)
• Flint Neighborhood Improvement and Preservation Project (FNIPP)
The Greater Flint Health Coalition
Legal Services of Eastern Michigan
Metro Housing Partnership
Mission of Peace Housing Community Development Corporation
Resource Center of Flint
Salem Housing Community Development Corporation
• Flint North Central Weed & Seed
